The Kherwadi Social Welfare Association engages in skill and capacity building, empowering people to make their own mark and steer themselves out of poverty and make a living.
They run the Integrated Rural Development Program (IRDP) in Wada, Maharashtra - a 3 acre land parcel where multiple activities are carried out viz, Animal Husbandry, Vegetable and Orchard Farms, Composting, Biogas plants, with supporting functions of admin and dormitories required to carry out these activities.
The farm welcomes people of all walks of life to come and learn how a farm can be developed and maintained, while also being a space to experiment new innovative agricultural strategies.
The land, already rich in beauty required an upgrade to improve the functionality of certain unused areas on the land, remodelling of interior spaces, improve accessibility and experience of space. The studio proposed various walks which would link various parcels of the land, for education purpose, and various pause points across the walk have been designed each of the being different based on the functionality of the area. A watchtower has been designed for bird watchers to enjoy avifauna, and to have a panoramic view of the land. Furthermore, the admin block has been upgraded to suit the changing needs of the farm.
