Established around 80 years ago, Mithapur has grown organically and incrementally since its inception, to a stage where today it needs a renewal that will set it up for the future.

This is not possible by more incremental improvements by bits and pieces. Its strengths need to be conserved, while addressing its issues and responding to its opportunities.The master plan should conserve the 'township's strengths while addressing its challenges. It should help in future-proofing the coastal town from extreme events increasing yearly.

The proposal prioritizes the ‘must build’ over the discretionary, and spreads the project over 6 phases to achieve complete proposal of the masterplan.

SAPA was brought on board as landscape planners and designers for the master plan process

The study's methodology is conducting an intensive survey and stakeholder interviews to prepare an existing inventory of the town, its culture, people, and aspirations. It will be a repository of the present and also form a basis on which future transformations can be envisaged
