The vila garden sits on a tight narrow plot,, dotted with mango, chickoo and tamarind trees and becommes the flood plain of a nallah cutting imediately beyond the land.

The building plinth was raised above the flood level, and the landscape imagined the outdoors as a series of decks stepping down from the building plinth to the natural ground level of the landscape.

The living room is imagined as a garden room, with a lawn on one side and a pool and deck on the other becoming the upper deck. The lawn had to be filled by around 1.2M above the natural ground. So as to conserve the existing trees, tree wells were designed and filled with khadi to allow the water to be absorbed by the roots while protecting the trees from root rot and decay because of filling.

The middle deck is connects to the building verandah through a series of plinth steps, which further descends into the lower deck that is the outdoor dining deck. The dining deck spills into the mango wadi with meandering pathways between the trees which loops around a bon fire area.

Shade loving shrubs of various types have been planted within these meandering paths while maintaining the view of the building and borrowing longs views from beyond hence making sure that the plot feels open.
