Kherwadi Social Welfare Association (KSWA) Yuva Parivartan aims to create opportunities for school dropouts and underprivileged youth that would help them lead productive and socially useful lives.
Their mission is to give a second chance to the education-deprived youth through wage or self-employment based on urban and rural livelihood training programs.

One such center is in the outskirts of Wada, which houses various functions that foster this mission that we had the opportunity to aid the organisation with.

The building required several repairs externally and internally, and a bold facade statement, all of which were implemented. Similarly, the internal spaces required reorganisation and planning to host the various skill development activities simultaneously through different times of the day. We looked at ways in which the same space could be used for different functions through simple strategies like reorganisation of loose furniture and adding partitions.

These were typical modular designs which would further aid the caretakers to maintain and add such pieces with ease themselves without depending on external agencies.

It’s been a joy to see how people now inhabit and use these spaces effectively through simple spatial reorganisation.
